Client Background

A leading European AI research and computing service provider focuses on large model training, autonomous driving simulation, and scientific computing with thousands of GPU cards in high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. Its internal high-speed network demands ultra-low latency, lossless transmission, and high reliability. Aging network equipment and multi-vendor mixing caused frequent compatibility issues, failing to support 7×24 uninterrupted computing. The customer needed stable, reliable, easy-to-maintain high-speed optical modules for HPC cluster and storage node interconnection.

Core Challenges

  1. HPC clusters are extremely latency-sensitive, requiring network jitter <0.1ms, which traditional commercial modules could not meet.
  2. Multi-brand switches, InfiniBand NICs, and GPU servers coexisted, resulting in high compatibility debugging costs.
  3. Zero-downtime operation required, with industry-top MTBF for modules.
  4. Large-scale deployment demanded standardized, manageable optical modules.

100Glight Solution

100Glight provided a high-speed optical module solution designed for AI computing centers:

  • 100G QSFP28 SR4 transceiver (100m, for intra-rack GPU node connections)
  • 400G QSFP-DD SR8 transceiver (100m, for cluster backbone links)
  • Industrial-grade wide-temperature design: -40°C to 85°C
  • Full-link signal integrity optimization, supporting lossless Ethernet and InfiniBand protocols

All products are 100% compatible with mainstream HPC switches and NVIDIA NICs, passing strict eye diagram, BER, and aging tests for long-term high-load stability.

Deployment & Implementation

100Glight’s on-site technical team completed compatibility assessment, site planning, batch installation, and stress testing. A “same-spec replacement, row-by-row launch” strategy avoided service interruption. Full test reports, monitoring guides, and spare-part plans were provided for plug-and-play maintenance.

Project Results

  • Network jitter stably controlled below 0.05ms, model training speed increased by 25%.
  • Zero compatibility issues across all platforms, smooth multi-vendor coordination.
  • Continuous operation for 11 months with zero failures, zero reboots, availability reaching 99.999%.
  • Maintenance workload reduced by 70%, allowing team focus on core computing services.
